View Full Version : A Dollie Site History
Random Doll Site history dating back to 2002 I believe xD
A Sites-Top of the game
B Sites-2nd in line
C sites-3rd in line
And last
D sites-4th in line
Also f sites too but yeah we wont be talking about them
A Sites- The Doll Palace-Been around the longest and most popular by far
B Sites- Order they became Famous or big ThugginDivaDolls, Mistiki’s dolls(now dolliecrave), Gurlpowerr(easydolls now). Precious Pixels yummielicious Pixelbee the newest to this grouping
C sites- DazzlingDivas Style Dolls MysticDollz.com PinkGoddestDolls Yummiemix.com(yes my old site also called NeoHut at its start) TheCuteSpot
D Site- DollieLove Dolliecode(yes another of my old sites)
These are all great site besides the owners or ex owners off them xD
The doll Palace to my knowledge was the first official palace doll site that made it mainstream
Then ThugginDivaDolls Came around and mistiki’s dolls and gurlpowerr and then MysticDolls and then My site NeoHut at the time that was its name.
As time went on all those sites were growing and only one had a domain name besides The Doll Palace. And that was ThugginDivaDolls her site grew the fastest due to here domain name I think but as time went on gurlpowerr and mistiki’s dolls started to out grow their free host and ThugginDivaDolls gladly host those two at this time my site was still on grocities.com and only have a once or twice a day shut down for over using bandwidth.
Well ThugginDivaDolls didn’t host those sites for long because they both end up buying domain name Mistikis dolls changed to DollieCrave and Gurlpower got a domain name within a week of DollieCrave getting a domain name I got one for Neohut but soon after I changed my name to yummiemix.com Well as all of these sites started to grow and get big Pixelbee came out of no where it seemed and grew quickly for her high quality graphics and such a sweet web owner. Then came along mistiki’s 2nd site dollielove fallowed by my 2nd dollie site DollieCode Then all these sites started to grow but a few owners sold their sites to The Doll Palace or others just closed due to money problems but a few stayed and they became the largest and strongest going dollie sites to date
I know this was random but hey I wanted to share my knowledge and way to long being in the dollie world xD
Also i am not saying there went other site just as big at the time or even know i am just going by those on my memory
Post if you enjoyed or like to add a tid bit and such to it :) i might post this on my site as a read or something idk xD

The Doll Palace was the first cartoon doll site I ever visited... I was addicted to the Av Chat.
Precious Pixels was my first ever favourite doll site, aside from TDP... I loved her site so much. I even got to be her sibling for a short period of time, woop. She wasn't on MSN very often, though... XD
-sigh-
I miss the way things used to be... there are very few cartoon doll sites around these days; it's all pixels and glitters and myspace... @_@
/edit/
Yeah, what about Helping the Poor and OIC? Those two rocked big time <33
Super Freak
11-23-2007, 12:37 AM
wow, i didn't know about all that- that was pretty interesting
heaps of people sold off their sites to TDP which is kinda stupid.
and my site seems so little compared to all that...
Wow my most popular Trend xD anyways
I loved the OIC and Helping the poor i loved too many sites and back then everything had class to it xD every site offered it own special thing and people respected that and websites had their own layout styles and such like some had frames, others div and in frames and so on it was great not like now with all of these amazing pro layouts xD sites had cute personal feeling layouts

the whole glitter/myspace trend will die out soon though. the amount of people using myspace goes down every day. everyone is transferring over to facebook, and those clever techies disabled html in the comments.
im sure there will be a dollie site boom somewhere within the next year.
ahh i was obsessed with cutehuggelz. and angelkizz as well as cutespot.
i miss the old doll sites. the whole ads thing just creeps me out. it's like everyones sole purpose is to make money and not enjoy what they are doing O.o
The ads are they to keep sites running alot of the time thats why i have them other wise i'd be paying to do a hobby
I love all of these sites so much i miss them back then there was a class to it xD

omg I've been to and known mostly all of the sites you peeps listed. I've been in the dollie world for a really long time (since 2002) but never got my site to be as big as those. I miss all of those cute sites. Back then, there were less pages, less content, and most graphics didn't go crazy with brushes. That bought so much memory... Does anyone remember Tiffany @ Dollie Magic and Natasha @ Dollie Kiss? Their site was quite popular too. Yeah... I've been in webdesign for so long that I didn't even change into those kinda glitter/myspace sites yet because the only kind of site I kinda maintained most of the time was a dollie site. I love the dollie world that much.
And did anyone ever hear of my really really old site Delicious Dollies? j/w
Edit: Alisa @ Usagi Dolls and Candi @ Candilicious (or something like that)! Anyone remember those?!

Oh my god, I feel so old, even though I'm not... like, not at all :D I remember all of those, Gurlpowerrr was my favorite, along with ThugginDivaDollz and Angel Kizz. Li's old site, Helping the Poor, is also worth mentioning, she was hosted by Eve from Gurlpowerrr for a long time. Also does anyone else remember when Tab had PurrFX?
I could probably also write out a summary of the history of Jail4Stealers, I remember when it started and it was Eve and Mitsiki :D Oh, how things have changed.
Seriously, though, I miss the days when having a domain name meant you were a really big deal. It just made it all the more special.

No offence but I wouldn't of considered yummiemix to be 3rd.

none taken i just did it based on my thought and i also based it on hits at the time =P
Ooh memories. :D
I remember I couldn't get on Angel Kizz for ages because I had a weird pop-up blocker and it always opened in a pop-up window. </3 :p But all the Matmice sites I visited had AK linked and I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
My favourites/the big sites I remember were: Angel Kizz (when I finally got to it), Dollie Love and Crave, Pixelbee, HTP, OIC, Sheillucious, Precious Pixels, Dollie Beats and a site I think was called "Everything" and another one that was called...Dazzling Divas or something.

Cute Huggelz was my favorite :p
& my sister and I ALWAYS went on yummiemix for dollmakers, and I know it got a lot of visitors [so I definitely think it's at least 3rd in line.....]
As for the whole doll sites dying down, I think any of the future dollers actually are on myspace now. If myspace hadn't of been so big, they'd be here. A ton of them are into making myspace layouts and they have that cutesy early doll layout style. I do think that myspace will die down, but it won't be for at least a year, in my opinion. I'm not really sure if doll sites will come back, but I guess there's always hope. I miss them xD

Myspace is never going to die but it will fade out just like LJ and the other social networks they were huge then something better came along.
Doll sites will never die they will come back i have hope xD

I never really liked it either but its grown on me and i might not still like it 100% but she surely has her stuff down i mean she gets people to pay for memberships and such xD

Cute Collectables.net (was a freewebs, then became net - now it's ccdolls.net)
Glittery Dollz
Falling Starz
Damaged (offered goth and punk styled dolls)
Blue Flame (offered goth and punk styled dolls)
Cutielicious Dolls
Sugar Gloss
Sooowinkable.com
Fashion Dolls.net
Angel Palace net
Jewls Slice of Spice
Invisible Innocence
Diamond Rainbows
Perfect Xplosion.net
Sugary Kisses
Dollie Mist.com
A Dollz World
There were so many others, I just wished my memory would serve me better. I had Yummiemix linked too :D
The ones I listed I had linked on my dollie site, as well as most that have already been mentioned. Those were the days. And it's true, if you had a domain, it was like so "omg". My dollie site was on Freewebs. I decided to get a domain myself, after a while. It was SilentDevotion.net (unfortunately, I cancelled that domain last summer *bleh*).
Anyway, the first doll sites I visited were Dollzmania (makers), TDP, Pineapple Paradise, Precious Pixels, ThugnDiva, Pink Goddess Dolls, Easy dolls (before the domain), Angel Kizz...among others. The layouts PP and the other PP had, always blew me away. The black background with the bright colored designs and dollies :D
Matmice...oh boy! That was big back then. I've tried getting one myself (so no one would "steal" my name and graphics), but every time I went to register, it wasn't taking any new accounts for blah blah reasons :p
Cjb.net webbies were big too. Geocities and AOL Hometown too (I started off w/ AOL).

I loved them :p
It makes me sad to remember the times when I used them [i'm really sentimental!] xD
I adored Helping the Poor, Angel Kizz, Fashion Dolls & Dazzlin something...
Ahh the old dollie site days :)
Man i remember when having a domain name made you king even if your site sucked and everyone had a geocities.com account and it seemed like a new site would pop up daily and it wasnt hard to be unique back then. also thedollpalace topsite had like 40000 sites on it and it was a big deal to be in the top 30 xD

Lol, that's awesome! I'm glad that there will be more doll sites coming back to the net :) I reopened mine this past Dec., though it doesn't have much content as it did in the past - I gave most of it to a friend and she's not even making good use of them! *grrr* She had a website of her own, but she "quit" working on it. Which really sucks because she was good with graphics and being unique, in my opinion. Plus, my site isn't like "omg" since I do not offer doll makers as most doll sites do (and I don't like the "adoptable" ones either).
*sigh* I hope I'll be able to get more content added soon and that it will get more hits.

Some of the first doll sites were:
Originz of Dollz (first girl to make a doll)
Then..
The Dollz Realm
Doll Town
Dollz of Flavor
Dollz.net
Misery's Dolls
Duckeez
Blue Bubblegum
Magenta Sky
Sugar Sparkle
Cool Dolls
.. not to mention the hand drawn doll sites
This is about the same time I started Angelkizz.com. There were some others that came around like Orange Dreams & Dolls United. Emma started Emma's Dollhouse soon after that. :]
The Doll Palace came a little after this. I remember when she opened, she had little vote banners posted asking people to vote. :P
After that came Gurlpowerrr, Thuggndivaz, and all those.
Later down the road came Dollie Bliss, Precious Pixels, YummieLicious, and many others.
i remember duckeez one of the first sites i saw.
most doll site that where first on the thing died once it started to grow

i remember magenta sky, duckeez, and blue bubblegum <3
i lovedd helping the poor, day dreamin dollies, dollie bliss, precious pixels, gurlpowerrr, and angelkizz :P
i never really liked mitsiki's sites, lol.
my site (brokenpens) was never that big, for awhile i got a load of hits from dressupgames for having huge dollmakers but that was about it.
i really miss doll sites, but i would never ever go back to when everyone used iframes/frames.. *shudder* the layouts were adorable, but i just prefer divs so much more.
i remember brokenpens and it got pretty big then like idk what happen to it i never say it again but then again i left the internet for almost a year

Oh my goodness I remember most almost all of those but I don't think all of them were popular. One of the really really early websites that was in around the same time as Thuggndiva and got really popular was I think Emma's Dollhouse (she had some awesome doll makers) and their was also Dollie Beats too. Michelle (I think she owned thedollmakers.org or com quite recently) had a massively popular site as well. Karili's site also was also one of the best bests back in the day. Yummy Apology was really big too but yeah there were some issues with her.
But these ones are probably 5 to 6 years back now...For some reason I never really liked Dollie Crave and Dollie Love but now I don't think I'll go back because my pop-up blocker blocks about 7 to 8 pop-ups every time I go there and every new page gives me a new pop-up.
The ads are they to keep sites running alot of the time thats why i have them other wise i'd be paying to do a hobby
I love all of these sites so much i miss them back then there was a class to it xD
Oh Nate, you can get so much more money just working at a normal shop without having to worry about your visitors getting trojans or viruses from your ads. (That's never happened to me while on your site but I have had a few from someone once on this forum's site.)
A Dollz World
Cute Collectables.net
Blue Flame
Those sites were some of my sibling sites that I had for a very long time. God I miss the owner from Blue Flame, she was one of the best sibling sites I ever had and I wish I could get in contact with her. I never knew she closed either.

One of the really really early websites that was in around the same time as Thuggndiva and got really popular was I think Emma's Dollhouse (she had some awesome doll makers) and their was also Dollie Beats too. Michelle (I think she owned thedollmakers.org or com quite recently) had a massively popular site as well.
i owned emma's dollhouse and thedollmakers.org (which is open again) :)
do you mean doll avenue? i remember a couple of michelle's but can't place them...
most doll site that where first on the thing died once it started to grow
actually dolls were at their peak from 2000-2003, there wasn't much growth after that... they were still big of course but they had started dying out

Hi. I'm sorry I got confused I had no idea why I thought Michelle owned your site when yeah she doesn't...Der silly silly me. .oops. I can't remember Michelle's sites previously because they were like over 4 years ago. Emma your site is so good, I'll show my cousins next time when they come over (they're like 12 down to 8) and they are always asking for doll makers and I think they'll love it.

I remember all of those doll sites. I loved going to all of them, and they were my inspiration for making sites. But I didn't want a doll site. XD

Aww Belinda from dolliecrave. I met Bel and Natey on what's that thing...the palace when I was 16 on my birthday and I still remember that at 20. Gosh I am a loser lol Loved both of theirs site and still love both of them but I haven't had contact from Bel in years. Li's helpingthepoor was the best and I was chuffed when I was accepted to be a sibling site. I was really sad when it closed because she had the best tutorials around and I loved learning from her site.
Those early days were the best I was in love with precious pixels forum and I went there all the time...I think I was obsessed. I'm pretty sure that before Thuggn came out Emma's Dollhouse was around....honestly though I didn't like Carrie's site because she had too many ads at one stage, every page had like 3 or more ads and there was always heaps of popups....I didn't really like Dolliecrave either cuz of that reason too.
When I had my dollsite which ran for I think 2 years I made sure that I never put any ads or popups on my site because I had a few experiences where doll sites gave me viruses and I knew that it came from them and no one else.
Aww I think I've gone all nostalgic and now I want a doll site again but I know that equals hours of cropping and making images transperant.
you old hag haha i was so young then O_O and belinda owned dolliebeats ;)
and i know why you had such little experiences because i hosted you :D
[...]Pixelbee came out of no where it seemed and grew quickly for her high quality graphics and such a sweet web owner.
Aww, thank you! That was so nice for you to say. <3
i miss the old doll sites. the whole ads thing just creeps me out. it's like everyones sole purpose is to make money and not enjoy what they are doing O.o
Well as Nate said, the ads are whats keeping most sites running.
And sadly the whole internet advertising is really low at the moment, as has been for quite some time, so if you don't own a myspace layout site that gets 50k UV a day you dont really make anything anymore.
Seriously, though, I miss the days when having a domain name meant you were a really big deal. It just made it all the more special.
Haha yea! And hosting/being hosted was so popular as well.
There were like little cliques going on with people hosted by different sites, and everyone started to make a family site or page, listing all their hostees.
I never really liked it either but its grown on me and i might not still like it 100% but she surely has her stuff down i mean she gets people to pay for memberships and such xD
Don't call him a she lol
also thedollpalace topsite had like 40000 sites on it and it was a big deal to be in the top 30 xD
Yea, until certain people started using proxies and cheated their way up the ranks.. that ruined it all. :/
I'm really glad you made this thread, it's good to see some people actually miss the old days. I sure as hell do. We were all like a big family.
I could have never changed PixelBee into a Myspace site.. ugh, I hate myspace anyways.
I just remembered I still have Annette's old content somewhere. I totally forgot to put it back up, I'll have to go find it again.

Eeegad's I just read that post again and I had no clue I said dolliecrave instead of dolliebeats. It must have been because of my poor old memory .neeneer. I am still grateful to this day that you hosted me, I saved over 300 bucks or more and you were a great friend to talk to when I was going through hard times.
I'm confused though, what do you mean about such little experiences about my site, it wasn't that bad was it? .sobs. I was talking about viruses. I know I wasn't fantastic and still isn't when it comes to graphics, but I always made sure I did have quality content and I had a few dollmakers on the site and still do have on the computer that no one else had.

Aww I remember those days still as well. They were the best. I was so so happy when I bought my domain, got hosted by Natey and when he had a family site for awhile. The clique things were a bit silly but I admit.

Yeah it did suck when some certain people or persons did that. The Doll Palace Topsites was like the biggest and best place to visit when looking at doll sites. I'm happy too that you didn't make your site into a myspace one because I think then it's not original and then it becomes a fad that will die out sooner or later.
I hope you do when you have the chance to put Annette's stuff back up, that'd be so cool.

Oh wow, gosh i loved all those sites so much! I remember back in the day before i really knew anything about web design etc i used to have a "website" of sorts on homestead site builder that i kept all the stuff i adopted on. I tried to make a neopets site on homestead which i named tinkerbells world. it was quite terrible :P It was actually Angelkizz and Yummielicious that inspired me to figure out how to make a real website with my own layout and content etc. i started out on freewebs with truely scrumptious then i bought the domain. No one has probably ever heard of it, it never got very big. but yeah i got over that for a while, then had a site called honey bunny for a while, and now life in the sun. But it was all those old dollie sites that made me want to learn more and actually get interested in web and graphic design. its such a shame that half of them arent even around anymore. All this myspace stuff is just rubbish. almost all the sites look alike these days. its sad :( bring back the dollie addiction!
Aww, thank you! That was so nice for you to say. <3

Your welcome :)
and i always do that i even know its owned by a guy xD
and i think most of us really do miss that whole family feeling where everyone seemed to get along for the most part and it was a huge thing to own a domain name or even be hosted by one
and i remember all of those family pages :D i use to have one of those and i remember all of the people i use to host and some of them went super far :D
