Site Traffic

I thought to make a thread to ask of ways and tips of getting site traffic. I have got advertising on some sites and i try to update as regularly as i can... and so far i'm doing quite well and get an avarage of 80-110 Unigue hits every day. But i wanted to ask for some tips on how to get more traffic and more noticed.

Yeah, there isn't much more you can do than what Annen suggested. Maybe pay for advertising for a huge site like CharmRoyal so your site will get even more noticed. Also, let people know about your site. Have Myspace? Post bulletins to let your friends know.

Funny thing is i'm already getting some hits (about 3/4) from CharmRoyal because she has a my link box thing on her site and i have one too and my site oviously shows up there sometimes.
But yea, i try to update often and advertise as much as i can, but my highest unique hits count is 152.

Maybe its just that compared to my mums sims2 site that gets about 4500 unigue hits everyday my hits look bad.

Have you tried :

my link box is very helpful, especially when you are already gaining a good number of visitors

some more general advice is to:
-plug yourself on plugboards, this works really well.
-link exchanges are always good
-rotations, they are very good at boosting you UV expecially when you've got a fair amount already, like you have
million tag cloud works through referrals, it's a bit slow but once you get people clicking your referral you go up the tag list and you can customise your tag to get larger sized text or a bright colour. it's takes a while to get going but in the long run it's worth it

Lol yea, my mum makes custom objects for sims2 because she is an architect and interior(sp?) designer, but she doesent work because she needs to look after my little sister, so she got into sims2.

And yea, i did add my link to my mums site because i did the design for her (well she said what she wanted and i just coded it) and i get quite a few hits from her.

LoL, well she says she has to do something while she's at home, so she sits glued to the computer about half the day so i cant wait to get wireless so i dont have to wait until she goes away to use the internet.

Mums site does give me quite a good start, but its not really a targeted audience as hers is a sims2 site and mine is a graphics/myspace site so people dont visit again... though i have found out if you type best lyts on google my site comes first!!!

Edit: damn its 3rd now :/ it was first this morning...

Also, this might sound stupid, but what exactly is page rank? my sites page rank is 3 but i'm not totally sure what it is lol i just know the bigger the better...

I have a pr 2 and got it with not even 1000 backlinks :p Mind you my hostie got a pr 3. How does that work? You'd think that since they're sub domain it would mean I'd like have the same or higher page rank. :p But whatever. I say do a lot of seo. The main thing is to code neatly, join forums like kville, etc.

only thing i can say is when something new hits myspace resorces sites like music skins did try to be one of the first people to get your site index on google and it will pay off in the long run my hits just went from 30-50 a day to 100-150 a day cuz i am in the top ten for music skins =P since i jumped on early and i am sure they will grow sooner :D
