Hello all!
I'm Ryan the owner of http://retrohost.info - and I've been reading a forum that gives false information about RetroHost.

Do a search for the term "retro host" - and you'll see a post in the archives that says that RetroHost is "Hosted by HostnSurf".

This information is completely inaccurate and false. Ryan (me) co-owns both Star and Oodiistar servers, the only link we have with HostnSurf is that the server hostnames are "star.hostnsurf.net" and "oodiistar.hostnsurf.net". These dedicated servers are co-owned by RetroHost and Hostnsurf. HostnSurf has no access to our clients and they do not manage them at all. We have ROOT access on both servers, and can change all of the top level administration settings. (PHP configuration, System Reboot, etc..) We are also not a VPS, Master Reseller, or Reseller. We own the servers.

Please do not associate RetroHost with HostnSurf. Oh yes, I might add that we are no longer on the same servers as we were on months ago when those reviews of HostnSurf were made.

I've made a section about other rumors made about RetroHost at http://retrohost.info/info/retrohost-exposed/ in an attempt to give potential clients the know-how on how we operate, and interact with the web hosting community. Hope this makes everybody clear - that we co-own our servers; and do not rent space from HostnSurf to "resell".

Thanks
Ryan.

I wont comment too much on this, as you have seen what some members here tend to say when I do.... but, what ever you say here, they wont listen lol

We have tried over and over again, they have made their minds up.
Most of whom were never hosted by us, they are just 'following the crowd'.

I wont post anymore on this thread, as I'm 90% sure they will all gang up on me, yet again.

In my opinion that's so sad - and quite pathetic of a community (your all different people, don't only base your descicion on ONE person) to be so unbiased.
Its time to get some new reviews of HostnSurf and RetroHost...since the server change there has been no downtime, and we also purchased a new server.

If still in doubt, submit a ticket and talk to them directly about the question concerning your hosting.

We might all be one community, but that doesn't mean we are all narrow-minded. o.O Geez, you haven't even been here long and you're already basing your opinion on what you heard. Nice job, Ryan.

You know when he posted this, I looked and at the time he only had 1 post. This thread was his first. Didn't even introduce himself. A lot of members just seem to be coming for more than making friends and being a community. Now that's pathetic. Last time I checked, that's mainly what this forum was for. Not selling thigns for money or giving out hosting.

Lulz, you're telling us we're all narrowminded but you just based your opinion on all of us after 1 post.

Congradulations!

I was reading through this forum, and came across somethings I disliked. So I did something about it; created this thread to clear misconceptions.

Last time I checked Lauren, there's nothing wrong with that. Wouldn't you want to defend your company? If you and your partner company is spoken about wrongly and misrepresented? I think you would. I think its even more pathetic of you to try to demeanor that. Plus - if you don't like this thread, or me for that matter: ignore it. I have freewill to post what I like, and if you can't respect that then ignore me. I really don't care. I just wanted to let people know that the way we were represented here is inaccurate. My intentions were not for money or giving out hosting, we have a strong client base. I was simply informing the misinformed. Next time you try to two up somebody, at least try to be accurate.

EDIT: KristixIndie, its not just one post. Its the review of others as well "http://www.kawaiiville.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115760". kthxbai.

EDIT: Ok, I've also seen how you gang up on one person.

Hence I do believe you are narrow minded. And Glambee, please do speak out.

I agree. I never mentioned anything about either Retro Host or Hostnsurf. I was consitering hosting with hostnsurf but desided not to because some people recomended against it. I paid no attention to those who didn't have expierience with them and recomend you only trust people who've actually had an expieriance with them. HOWEVER I do think that in order for hostnsurf to have a bad rep they must have something up with them. Not taking sides, just posting my opinion. And I've also heard good things about Retro Host. The only think I've heard negative is that they "need to be more independent" or something along those lines. I've never even heard those rumors. :\

Thanks Rebecca :). My initial post was addressing those who have heard those rumors, or have had doubts because we are a new company. I also ask for some people to review HostnSurf that currently have hosting or have recently been hosted with them, as I believe those reviews to be outdated.

Oh dear.

Ryan, you have taken a minuscule sentence that probably less than 2% of the forum read and made it into a big thing.

Your attitude is childish and highly unprofessional, and whereas one or two other posts in this thread may be same, no one else is trying to run a 'srs biznez lolz'.

There are three reasons on first look why millions of people would, and should, not touch your 'company' with a barge pole:

1. The name: it also is childish and unprofessional. I would only use a host with a name like that if it was owned by a close friend and I felt sorry for them. And if it was free.
2. The .info domain: enough said.
3. The appalling spelling and grammar on your front page alone. No one in their right mind is going to take you seriously with text like that.

No one has 'ganged up' on anyone. A thread was made about which hosts people would and wouldn't recommend. Four out of twenty-five people who posted mentioned Hostnsurf. Hostnsurf, not RetroHost. Four out of thousands of members. A little perspective, please.
I'm sure if Emiley truly believed she was being 'ganged up' on she wouldn't constantly spam about her 'srs biznez lolz' every time she felt the need. And I'm sure if we actually wanted to 'gang up' on her we would deleted or close all her threads. But we haven't even closed the spam ones (the spam ones being all the unnecessary ones that were created while there was still an active thread).
People disliking your site/'company' does not equal people ganging up on you. A professional hosting site owner would not accuse people of 'ganging up' on them - they would take the criticism and either a) sort themselves out, or b) ignore it.

Any decent reputation you may have had on this forum has been shot to pieces, by you.

I understand you wanted to clear things up. That's fine. It bugs me when though when someone joins this forum and doesn't post an introduction thread first.

I don't think it was right to say;

"In my opinion that's so sad - and quite pathetic of a community (your all different people, don't only base your descicion on ONE person) to be so unbiased."

Just as Maz said, like 2% of our forum read that thread/post thing.. And you're basing your decision on that?
Hypocrite much?

Thanks Maz, and I'll take your review seriously and rewrite sections of the main website.
Although I have to disagree with you on the name and the domain; as at the time I really wanted RetroHost - and could only seem to get a .info. (Its kinda like the same question; Why did your parents name you Ryan? I don't like the name - but I have to live with it.)

Well yes, I'm gonna suck it up and say I'm sorry for assuming the community was "narrow minded" and I was kinda acting foolish. Maybe I was shocked, I don't know. I usually don't apologize, but I need to. You can delete this thread, and it would be great if you accepted my apology. I also really wasn't competing for reputation, I was just a little hyped up I guess ;) Thanks.
Regards,
RetroHost.

Now that is the attitude of someone I'd be hosted by. Well done for apologising, I admire you for that and also would like to apologise myself for being so harsh.

Regarding the writing thing, if you're not so good at it yourself, why not ask someone to look it over for you? Or for a small fee you could ask someone on a freelance/website forum to proofread it.

I'll close this but if you'd like it re-opened PM me or RexAngel (admin) and we'll do so.
