Smart ftp? No longer free?!

I'm grounded so I snuck on when my parents were out but anyway---


Pretty much i just got the folowing message when i opened smart ftp for the first time in 2 weeks : Unfortunately, after offering a free product and free service to millions of users for more than ten years, we are no longer able to do so. We would like to thank you for using SMARTFTP and we hope to welcome you as a customer in the future. Thank you for understanding."

What ftp programs are you guys using now?

Thats really odd =/ It works fine for me.
Try re-downloading it on the website. The website hasnt said anything about them 'not offering it anymore'...

My SmartFTP always expires so I use CoreFTP now.

Lol I always use it...and it doesnt say that for me. Last time I had it I had it like 300 days that I was supposed to have it...

I used to use SmartFTP a longgg time ago, but I decided to quit it since the trial was almost over.
I now use FileZilla, it's free and really good ;]

Smart FTP lets you use it for free even after you go over the amount of trial days. Im at around 300 days over the limit at the moment :]

Yeah it was the same way for me with smart ftp. I redownloaded it a few weeks ago and updated to smart ftp version 3
now it wont let me use it. I took poonam's advice and downloaded coreftp

Yeah I tried to use SmartFTP the other day and that's what it said also!

I'm just using CoreFTP Lite (it's free and you can get it from download.com) since I used it before on my old laptop.

I downloaded Smart FTP 3.0 the other day and I don't know how many days left to expire until I can re-download it again and use it. I was about 300 days on Smart FTP 2.5.

I quit using Smartftp, because the trail thing is obnoxious. I got tired of redownloading it.. so I just use Coreftp which is really good. (and consistent)

CoreFTP fails, SmartFTP doesn't. SmartFTP is a lot more organised and easier to use, and you can create files directly in it instead of making the document and then transfering it over like you need to in CoreFTP. I just about cried when I say SmartFTP wasn't free anymore. Especially since I needed to re-install it because a file got corrupt or something. I am sure you could get it .. never mind. Don't wanna get in trouble :p

Yeah, you could with the unregistered version, but now that's not available. :( So now you only get access to the registered version which absolutely sucks. I should have saved it onto a disk or something but stupid me. :rolleyes: Now I plan to do that with all the downloads like that. I miss my SmartFTP. </3

Oh so SmartFTP allows you to make a new document within the program? Nice. Yeah, CoreFTP doesn't and it bugs me but at least it allows me to keep backup files (albeit unintentionally)

My start ftp didn't work since last month or more, because of expiration and when I try to download it a second time, it still didn't work, so I use ftp online : net2ftp.com , it's very useful, you don't need to download it or whatever.

Actually, I perfer CoreFTP; I used to think SmartFTP was good, but it was just an alright program really.

CoreFTP doesn't have much in the way of design, but who needs that when you're organising files? I find CoreFTP much better, and it makes me create backups which I need otherwise I don't download my files.

I did, but I kept getting messages about the server being too busy, and I was using too many connections. I got so aggravated that I quit using it.

it works well for me,, it always show me a little window saying it is going to expire but i always can use it,,

ahh ._. actually , you can always fix that simply by redownloading the client again . ( however , it doesn't work if you try to click on your old client that you've downloaded )

the conclusion is : redownload from the site ( google search smart ftp ) -> download the client -> and you're done (: **13 days extention . redownload again whenever it's going to expire (:
