Personally, if I were you, I'd get Photoshop Elements. I have elements and three different versions of Photoshop (7, CS & CS2), and they're all effective if you want to do glitters and graphics... etc.

Please don't use chat speak :)
I used to use 7.0 and it was easy enough for me to use. There's not difference in anything except CS2 just has some new controls for the layers.
If you want to make animated GIFs, I suggest you get ImageReady as it is compatible with Photoshop.

Just double it.
£80 is $160 [give or take a few pence].

Try getting version 7.0 or higher. I have 3 versions, 7.0, 8.0 and 10.0, and they're all fine :]

I use both CS (version 8) and CS2 (version 9). The difference is there's no animation in the CS Photoshop, in CS2 Photoshop there is. I bought 2 cds of CS2 which cost me over $100+ I'm not sure, and the CS version... I just found it on my pc. :D

I use CS2, you can make fabulous graphics with it.
I used to use CS2 which was great because you can also animate with it and it's great for layouts and such.

It seems most people use CS2, however as it is wayyy more than your budget, I suggest that you get either a version of Photoshop Elements (basically, Photoshop with fewer features) or an older version (you can get those cheaper).
As you are not designing commercially, I think Photoshop Elements will have enough features for your use. :)
