adding 1pixel border (HELP)

is there a trick to this for adding it on dolls, or pixel words?
or do you just have to do it by hand, pixel by pixel.

you can put the doll on a solid color background and then use the magic wand tool to select the background.
Then you go to the select menu and click inverse.
Go back to the select menu and put the mouse over modify and click expand

Wow, have you heard of "Blending Options > Stroke"? I use that, usually it comes out not pixelly but I find it easier than the magic wand tool thing.

There's another way though, select all of you doll. If there are different layers just press CTRL+SHIFT and click on the thumbnails to select them.

Go to Select > Modify > Expand and do about 1-3 pixels. Fill it in with whatever color you like and place that layer behind all the pixel doll/text layers.
